Secunderabad, India (October 5, 2024): The 164-year-old Rashtrapati Nilayam, the President’s winter home in Bolaram, is abuzz with activity as it hosts the Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav 2024. This eight-day celebration is dedicated to showcasing the rich and diverse cultural heritage of India’s northeastern region.
Organized jointly by Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, the Ministry of Development of the Northeast Region, and the Ministry of Culture, the Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav (BKM) offers visitors an immersive experience through cultural performances, exhibitions, cuisines, and interactive sessions. This event highlights the President’s vision of transforming the President’s estates into vibrant cultural hubs.
The festival is drawing large crowds eager to explore the region’s culture, food, and people. Visitors can experience the craftsmanship of Northeastern artisans, witness their dance forms, and purchase handicrafts and handlooms from the eight State pavilions. Live demonstrations allow visitors to see artisans at work, creating intricate pieces of weaving, wood carving, jewelry assembling, and bell metal utensil-making.
A dedicated Geographical Indicator (GI) product zone, an immersive digital selfie area, and a technology-enabled youth-engagement zone further enhance the visitor experience. Each State’s display area is thoughtfully designed, providing ample space and comfort for visitors.
The food stalls offer a delightful culinary journey through the traditional cuisine of the Northeast, featuring Assamese, Naga, Sikkimese, Khasi, and Mizo delicacies. Visitors can savor the unique flavors and aromas of these regional cuisines.
The Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav 2024 at Rashtrapati Nilayam, Secunderabad, is open to the public until October 6, from 10 AM to 8 PM. This event provides a valuable opportunity to explore the vibrant tapestry of India’s northeastern region and appreciate its rich cultural heritage.
