COVID-19: India sees the largest daily increase in cases in the previous seven months

As per the most recent update from the Union Health Ministry, India experienced a record-breaking high of 752 new coronavirus infections in a single day on Saturday, May 21, 2023. There are currently 3,420 active cases overall. The current death toll is 5,33,332, and four more deaths have been reported in the last day. Kerala accounted for two of these deaths, while Rajasthan and Karnataka each reported one.
Union Health Ministry data on Saturday showed that the number of coronavirus infections in India increased by 752 in a single day, the highest since May 21, 2023, and that the number of active cases rose to 3,420.

Centre and state preparations: Following reports of a spike in COVID-19 cases nationwide, the Centre and State health departments have been placed on high alert. Due to the nationwide COVID-19 scare, Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandviya chaired a high-level review meeting with representatives from every state and Union Territory (UT). To review the situation, state health departments have held their own meetings.
The government of Bihar has issued an order to all hospitals and districts in the state to increase COVID-19 RT-PCR testing, with arrivals at Patna, Gaya, and Darbhanga airports being randomly tested.
