The Fabless Chip Design Incubator (FabCI) at IIT Hyderabad (IITH), Startup India, and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in collaboration with NXP India has announced the winners of Season 2 of the Semiconductor Startup Incubation and Acceleration Program. The top five winners, Smartkosh Technologies, Droame LLP, FermionIC Design, Smartway Electronics, and Pramatra Space Technology, will receive a cash reward of INR 1 lakh each. Additionally, Mokkomotto won the Special Jury Award for its innovative product solution.
These winning startups will gain access to a range of benefits, including EDA tools, MPW access, mentoring, IP access, foundry and packaging access, characterization lab access, and visibility during the demo day with NXP.
The program’s primary objective is to identify, nurture, and mentor emerging semiconductor and IP design startups in India. It aims to create semiconductor startups focused on IP and SoC design, strengthening India’s semiconductor and ESDM value chain and aligning with the Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India vision.
Season 2 of the program saw a significant increase in applications, with 117 participants representing a 125% growth compared to the previous season. The surge in interest reflects the growing recognition of the program’s role in promoting hardware design and manufacturing, vital for India’s self-reliance goals. A thorough evaluation process by NXP experts resulted in the selection of the top 10 startups, showcasing the diversity and innovation within the semiconductor ecosystem.
