Apple TV+ to Launch on Prime Video, Boosting Streaming Offerings

Published:

Amazon (AMZN.O) has announced that Apple TV+ (AAPL.O) will be available on Prime Video later this month in the U.S. for $9.99 per month. This move marks a significant development for Apple as it seeks to enhance its presence in the competitive streaming landscape, where it has struggled to keep pace with rivals such as Netflix, Disney+, and even Amazon’s own Prime Video.

Apple TV+, renowned for its original series including Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, and Severance, has carved a niche for itself through a commitment to high-quality, in-house content. This strategy has proven successful, earning the service a remarkable 72 Emmy Award nominations to date.

Despite these accolades, Apple TV+ faces challenges; it has one of the highest subscription cancellation rates among streaming platforms, according to market research firm Antenna. In contrast, Netflix has reported the lowest cancellation rates, highlighting the competitive pressures within the industry.

With the addition of Apple TV+ as a channel on Prime Video, Amazon continues to enhance its streaming offerings. Other services available on the platform include HBO Max, Discovery+, Starz, Showtime, and Paramount+, creating a comprehensive ecosystem for viewers.

This collaboration could provide a boost for Apple TV+ by leveraging Amazon’s extensive user base, potentially attracting new subscribers while enriching the content available to Prime Video users.(Reuters)
