New York – Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a productive roundtable discussion with prominent American tech CEOs, including leaders from Google, Adobe, and IBM, during his visit to New York. Hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the roundtable focused on fostering collaborations in emerging fields such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and biotechnology.
Sharing details of the meeting on social media platform X, Modi expressed optimism about the discussions, stating, “Had a fruitful roundtable with tech CEOs in New York, discussing aspects relating to technology, innovation, and more. Also highlighted the strides made by India in this field. I am glad to see immense optimism towards India.”
Notable attendees included Shantanu Narayen, Chairman and CEO of Adobe; Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google; Arvind Krishna, CEO of IBM; Lisa Su, Chair and CEO of AMD; and Noubar Afeyan, Chairman of Moderna. The Prime Minister emphasized India’s growing role as a global innovation hub, urging U.S. companies to explore the vast opportunities within India’s expanding digital and technology sectors.
Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, highlighted Modi’s discussions with American tech leaders, stating, “PM @narendramodi engaged with top tech leaders and CEOs from the U.S. during a roundtable hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) School of Engineering in New York today.”
Addressing a large gathering of the Indian diaspora later in the day, Modi coined the term “American-Indian spirit,” framing it as a new global AI force. “For the world, AI stands for artificial intelligence, but for me, AI also represents the American-Indian spirit. This is the new ‘AI’ power of the world… I salute the Indian diaspora here,” he remarked.
The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to U.S. President Joe Biden for his warm hospitality during Modi’s visit to Biden’s home in Delaware. “Wherever I travel, global leaders always praise the Indian diaspora. Yesterday, President Biden welcomed me to his home in Delaware. His warmth was truly touching. This honor belongs to the 1.4 billion Indians and to the millions living here,” he added.
Modi’s next engagement is the “Summit of the Future” at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where he is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech before returning to India.
