Blinkit, the popular online delivery platform, has taken a bold step in improving emergency medical services by launching a 10-minute ambulance service in Gurugram. This new initiative aims to provide swift medical assistance to residents of the city in the event of emergencies.
In its initial phase, the service will have five ambulances stationed strategically across various locations in Gurugram. The service is set to be available for a flat fee of Rs 2,000, offering a quick and affordable solution to those in urgent need of medical attention. Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa announced the launch on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting that the initiative is centered around public welfare, placing the well-being of citizens over profit.
Speaking about the new service, Dhindsa emphasized the importance of quick response times in medical emergencies, especially in fast-growing urban areas like Gurugram. “Our goal is to offer reliable, swift ambulance services to urban residents, especially in places where rapid response time can make all the difference in saving lives,” he stated. He also pointed out that the company plans to expand the program cautiously, ensuring that the service remains affordable for the public.
Dhindsa further shared that Blinkit is committed to maintaining the affordability of the service, adding, “We are focused on providing this service at an affordable cost for our customers while investing in long-term improvements. Our objective is to make emergency medical care more accessible for everyone, particularly in rapidly growing cities.”
Looking ahead, Blinkit plans to expand this 10-minute ambulance service to major cities across India over the next two years, improving the reach and effectiveness of emergency medical responses nationwide. With this initiative, Blinkit aims to significantly enhance public health infrastructure by filling a critical gap in urgent medical transport.
This move comes as part of Blinkit’s broader vision to diversify its services beyond delivery, proving the company’s growing commitment to making a meaningful impact on public welfare through innovation and accessibility.
For now, the 10-minute ambulance service is available in Gurugram, and residents are encouraged to use the service in case of any medical emergencies that require swift intervention.
As urban centers like Gurugram continue to grow, Blinkit’s new service could set a model for other cities, signaling a shift toward more accessible emergency medical solutions in India.
