Bengaluru, November 19, 2024– The 27th edition of the Bengaluru Tech Summit, themed “Breaking Boundaries to the Next Level Unbound”, was inaugurated at Bangalore Palace by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, along with Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.
The Technology event saw the signing of six MoUs between the state government and leading tech giants such as Microsoft, Intel, Accenture, and IBM, which will skill over 40,000 youth in emerging technologies such as Deep Tech, AI, quantum tech, and fintech.
Key Highlights and Announcements
In a major development, Alexandra Deblaunch signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of India. This agreement aims to boost collaboration in science and innovation, particularly with Bengaluru’s prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). The agreement will provide startups from Karnataka with enhanced access to Europe’s tech hubs, including the dynamic startup ecosystem of Paris.
Recognition and Awards
Sri Harsha Majety, the founder of Swiggy, received a special honour for the company’s successful Initial Public Offering (IPO); such stories have solidified Karnataka’s reputation as a major startup hub. Additionally, an award was presented to a leading innovator from Texas for significant contributions to technology and innovation.
Training and Development Initiatives
A key focus of the summit is on workforce development. Nipun Karnataka, an ambitious training initiative, announced its goal to provide skill development to 100,000 trainees across the state.
At the three days event, six major MoUs were signed with leading tech companies including:
Microsoft: Committed to training 10,000 students in Deep Tech.
Intel: Aiming to train over 20,000 individuals in AI technologies.
Accenture: Providing emerging technologies training, including Quantum Tech, to 10,000 participants.
IBM: Offering hands-on training sessions to develop industry-ready skills.
South Asia Media: Announced plans to set up an AI Data Center to boost AI and Fintech startups.
