New Delhi, India (October 4, 2024): Tech Mahindra Foundation, in collaboration with the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), and AT&T Global Network Services India Pvt. Ltd. (AGNSI), has successfully established the SMART Academy for Digital Technologies in Delhi. The academy was inaugurated on October 4, 2024.
Founded in 2006, Tech Mahindra Foundation is the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Tech Mahindra Limited, dedicated to empowering individuals through education and employability. The foundation has a strong focus on women empowerment and disability.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Mr. Arun Karna, MD & CEO of AT&T Global Network Services India, who served as the Chief Guest. Mr. M. Nasim Haider, Registrar of Jamia Millia Islamia, was the Guest of Honor, and the function was presided over by Prof. M. Shakeel, Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia. Other distinguished guests from the industry and academia were also present.
Prof. M. Shakeel emphasized the importance of equipping India’s youth with new-age skills and an entrepreneurial mindset to enhance their employability. He expressed his delight in Jamia Millia Islamia’s contribution to the country’s economic growth and progress through this initiative.
The Tech Mahindra SMART Academy offers intensive, high-quality vocational courses to equip India’s youth with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the allied healthcare services, digital technologies, and logistics ecosystems. The academy provides career-oriented certificate courses like Graphic Design, Digital Marketing, AWS re/Start, Java Full Stack Development, PHP Full Stack Development, UI/UX Development, and more. Additionally, students will receive training in foundational courses such as English, IT, soft skills, and personality development to ensure they are job-ready upon completion.
Mr. Arun Karna highlighted India’s potential for global transformation due to its diverse and young talent pool and thriving startup ecosystem. He emphasized the importance of empowering the next generation of workers with the necessary tools to build a sustainable future.
Mr. Chetan Kapoor, Chief Executive Officer of Tech Mahindra Foundation, highlighted the alignment of the academy’s initiatives with market trends and its focus on nurturing youth accordingly. He emphasized the integration of new-age technologies with requisite soft skills and personality development in the course offerings.
