IIT Madras-Incubated Startup Amber Wings Launches Revolutionary Agricultural Drone ‘Vihaa’

Published:

Chennai, India (October 4, 2024): Amber Wings, an IIT Madras-incubated UAV startup, has introduced its latest agricultural drone, ‘Vihaa,’ to revolutionize farming practices in India. The drone recently received certification from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), paving the way for more efficient and productive farming.

Transforming Crop Management

Vihaa offers a significant improvement in crop management by delivering agricultural treatments up to seven times faster than traditional manual methods. This enables farmers to save time and resources, ultimately boosting productivity.

“Introducing ‘Vihaa’ marks a pivotal moment in our journey to enhance agricultural practices in India,” said IIT Madras Professor Satya Chakravarthy, Founder, Chief, and Technical Lead at Ubifly Technologies. “Our mission has always been to provide innovative solutions that empower farmers and drive industry growth.”

Empowering Farmers with Advanced Technology

Amber Wings emphasizes that Vihaa is more than just a tool—it is a partner in modern farming. The startup aims to make advanced technology accessible to farmers nationwide, helping them optimize their farming operations.

“With ‘Vihaa,’ we are not just offering a tool but a partner in modern farming, aiming to make advanced technology accessible across the country and support the broader drone technology sector’s development,” said Chakravarthy.

Expanding Reach and Developing New Solutions

Amber Wings is currently offering its spraying services in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. The startup plans to expand its services to other regions in the coming months.

In addition to the Vihaa agricultural drone, Amber Wings is developing other drone solutions. The startup’s ‘Atva’ series of drones is designed for package delivery and aerial imaging, catering to the logistics and e-commerce sectors. They are also prototyping a 50-kg payload drone to further expand their capabilities.

“We believe drone technology has the power to transform industries and unlock new possibilities for businesses,” Chakravarthy said. “By offering end-to-end solutions and building a strong ecosystem, we aim to drive the growth of drone adoption across India.”
