Zomato Expands Service to Over 100 Railway Stations in India

Published:

Food delivery giant Zomato has announced a major expansion of its train food delivery service, marking a significant enhancement in its logistics and reach. The company now delivers food directly to more than 100 railway stations across India, according to a recent update from CEO Deepinder Goyal on X (formerly Twitter).

This expansion reflects Zomato’s growing footprint in the food delivery sector and its strategic partnership with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). Goyal highlighted that Zomato has successfully fulfilled over 1 million orders through this service, showcasing the high demand and operational efficiency of their railway food delivery system.

The collaboration with IRCTC, which was established in 1999 by the Government of India and operates under the Ministry of Railways, has been instrumental in this achievement. IRCTC, responsible for managing catering and tourism services on Indian Railways, has enabled Zomato to leverage its extensive network and infrastructure.

In addition to Zomato, Swiggy, another major player in the food delivery market, has also ventured into railway food delivery. Earlier this year, Swiggy partnered with IRCTC to provide and deliver pre-ordered meals at select railway stations. This move reflects a growing trend among food delivery companies to tap into the railway segment, offering passengers a range of dining options while traveling.

Both Zomato and Swiggy’s initiatives align with IRCTC’s mission to enhance passenger experience and provide high-quality food services across the railway network. As these partnerships continue to evolve, passengers can expect more convenient and diverse food options during their journeys.
