India’s First Open-Source Multilingual Model Unveiled by Soket AI Labs

Published:

Soket AI Labs, a homegrown tech startup, has launched a groundbreaking tool called Pragna-1B in partnership with Google Cloud. This new model is a big deal because it’s the first of its kind in India and can understand multiple languages like Hindi, English, Bengali, and Gujarati.

What makes Pragna-1B special is its ability to understand and process languages just like humans do. It’s been trained using lots of data from India, making it really good at understanding our way of speaking and writing.

This model, Pragna-1B, has been built using advanced technology called transformer decoder-only architecture. It’s like a super smart brain with over 1.25 billion parameters, which are like building blocks for understanding language. Plus, it can handle lots of words at once, up to 2048 tokens.

Abhishek Upperwal, the founder of Soket AI Labs, explained that they teamed up with Google Cloud to make this happen. They used Google’s powerful AI tools to create Pragna-1B, making it efficient and cost-effective.

Bikram Singh Bedi, from Google Cloud India, is really excited about this collaboration. He thinks Pragna-1B could change the way organizations work by making things easier and faster.

Soket AI Labs plans to make it even easier for developers to use Pragna-1B by putting it on the Google Cloud Marketplace. They also want to introduce more models like Pragna-1B in the future.

Soket AI Labs has been working hard since 2019 to bring innovative AI solutions to businesses. They’ve been recognized by big names like NVIDIA and AWS for their work.

Pragna-1B’s launch comes at a time when India’s AI sector is buzzing with activity. Other Indian startups like ‘Hanooman’ are also making waves with their AI technology.

Experts predict that India’s AI industry could be worth over $17 billion by 2030. With Pragna-1B leading the charge, India is stepping up its game in the world of technology.
