A 5K Walk To Encourage Voter Awareness

Published:

In anticipation of the upcoming Telangana State Elections in 2023, the Lets Vote Foundation, a Hyderabad-based non-profit organization, organized a ‘5K Walk’ event at Gachibowli Stadium on Saturday morning. This initiative was carried out in collaboration with the India Startup Foundation, HYSEA (Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association), and TASK (Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge), and received support from the Chief Election Officer in New Delhi.

The primary goal of the ‘5K Walk’ was to raise awareness among young individuals about the impending elections and to motivate them to exercise their right to vote. JA Chowdary, the Founder of Lets Vote Foundation, expressed the organization’s commitment to conducting such activities ahead of general elections and assembly polls, citing their recent awareness campaigns prior to the Karnataka Assembly elections. He also highlighted past efforts, including cycle rallies, corporate meetings, and marathons, aimed at encouraging civic participation.

Chowdary addressed the issue of many young tech professionals abstaining from voting, emphasizing that by neglecting this fundamental duty, they forfeit their right to hold the government accountable for any discrepancies. He urged young citizens to recognize the significance of participating in the electoral process and stressed the importance of casting their ballots.

Lets Vote Foundation’s commitment to promoting voter awareness extends beyond Hyderabad, as they conduct similar awareness programs in other cities, including Bengaluru, Visakhapatnam, and Bhubaneshwar.
