Prashanth Prakash, a distinguished venture capitalist and entrepreneur, has been honoured with the prestigious Padma Shri award by the Government of India in the Trade and Industry category. This recognition highlights his exceptional contributions to India’s entrepreneurial landscape and his significant philanthropic impact. The Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award, follows the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, and Padma Bhushan in the national honours list.
As a founding partner of Accel India, a leading venture capital firm, Prakash has been a driving force behind the success of some of India’s most iconic startups. Under his leadership, Accel India has supported groundbreaking companies such as Flipkart, Swiggy, BookMyShow, Infra.Market, Bluestone, Freshworks, Zetwerk, and Urban Company. His investments have played a pivotal role in positioning India as a global leader in innovation and entrepreneurship.
In addition to his work in the startup ecosystem, Prakash has also been an influential advisor to former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa. Through this role, he contributed to initiatives that fostered innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development in the state.
