T-Works, the premier prototyping center in Hyderabad, hosted Maker Faire Hyderabad 2023, a two-day vibrant gathering of tech enthusiasts, educators, schools, universities, hobbyists, engineers, inventors, artists, students, and exhibitors. The event, which showcased innovation, creativity, and collaboration, witnessed an overwhelming response with a footfall of over 20,000 attendees.

The Maker Faire Hyderabad event featured 150 stalls and an impressive lineup of 112 diverse workshops that garnered full registrations even before its commencement. Attendees were captivated by the event’s 18-meter-tall mascot, Makey, symbolizing the magnitude of innovation on display.

Anand Rajagopalan, CEO of T-Works, expressed immense satisfaction with the unprecedented participation. He stated, “Maker Faire at T-Works Hyderabad is a celebration of innovation, creativity, and the act of making things by combining both mind and hands. It brings together art, science, and engineering in a collaborative environment, making it a unique event in India.”

The event received praise from Jayesh Ranjan, IT and Industries Principal Secretary of the Telangana government, who highlighted its significance in equipping youth with the skills and confidence to become the problem-solvers and change-makers of tomorrow.

Maker Faire at T-Works, which began in 2018, aims to create a culture of making in India, emphasizing the fusion of art, science, and engineering. It encourages collaboration among participants and showcases how diverse skills and talents can lead to innovative products.

The event featured gripping competitions, including a fierce Robo Wars, a vibrant Cosplay competition, an energetic Drum Jam session, drone wars, a thrilling RC Car Race, and a round table discussion with maker spaces from across the country added to the dynamic atmosphere.

The program received support from corporates, community partners, and young volunteers from various colleges, crucial to its success. Participants included school kids, students, and parents.

The goal of Maker Faire goes beyond the event itself, with aim of inspiring and motivating individuals to embrace the culture of making. This, in turn, is expected to contribute to the growth of startups and companies capable of competing globally, thereby enhancing India’s innovation landscape, says Anand.

T-Works will expand its equipment and facilities, including a new 30,000 square-foot “dirty process outpost,” and builds its product team, solidifying its role as a hub for innovation and creativity in India. Maker Faire Hyderabad seeks to be a key driver of this ecosystem, inspiring and empowering the next generation of innovators.
